I consider myself a southerner. I have deep seated Kentucky roots with inherent ties to horses.
Horses have been in my family history for generations. After working on a horse farm and watching the farrier, I knew I had found my calling. However, the old adage kept being imposed “women can’t do that”.
I was told that same thing the first time I asked to ride a chopper that belonged to my neighbor. I then found myself constantly pushing the barriers of that old adage. I look back on the last 37 years of shoeing horses and riding choppers and conclude women can do anything they set their minds to. I fervently encourage other women to push boundaries set by the old adage and go after their dreams.
This brings me to 2020!
My passion for motorcycles started at a young age. I learned to ride a little Honda mini-bike the same week I learned to ride a bicycle. I was 5 years old. It has been 4 decades of nurturing and investing in my obsession with motorcycles.
I am currently a licensed CMSP Instructor(California Motorcycle Safety Program). Through teaching that program I discovered how rewarding it is to see students find joy in learning to ride. I have been asked countless times for assistance in navigating some of those first hurdles after they have completed the program. Again, I am doing something to further my 2nd calling, helping others further their riding experiences.
My thoughts about acquiring knowledge,
regardless of the subject:
-Knowledge is power, Wisdom is the shortcut.
-It is imperative to seek someone who embodies both knowledge and wisdom, and the ability to convey that knowledge into our personal learning language.
